No title

St. Nicolas was written with amateur musicians in mind and is frequently performed by youth and amateur ensembles.[ citation needed

why? - there are no "old" or and v. few "professional" children's choirs to my knowledge (assuming Choir School choirs like King's College Cambridge or the Vienna Boys' Choir can be considered professional!), so some of the performers at least will be young and amateur

I placed the citation tag here in respect to the line "It was written with amateur musicians in mind." It seems like speculation to say what Britten had in mind - or at least, something for which we should cite a source. MarkBuckles (talk) 14:56, 5 August 2006 (UTC) reply

Title - St. or Saint

Is the actual title of this work St. Nicolas or Saint Nicolas or St Nicolas?? Do catalogues and indexes permit one to differentiate between these three and point to one as "correct"? DisillusionedBitterAndKnackered ( talk) 10:37, 1 December 2008 (UTC) reply

The Britten-Pears Foundation calls it Saint Nicolas. I've moved it accordingly. -- Jack of Oz ... speak! ... 19:37, 2 November 2010 (UTC) reply
