I could be wrong but I seem to recollect seeing a TV documentary which described the aftermath of this sinking. My recollection is that one of the lifeboats of SS Benares was never rescued at all: instead the sailors on board sailed her all the way back to the UK and saved their passengers themselves through their own courage and initiative. Perhaps someone with more authorative knowledge can throw light on the accuracy or inaccuracy of this? Cleckheaton ( talk) 11:20, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Tom Nagorski's book Miracles on the Water includes a 1989 picture of Colin Richardson. I have therefore deleted Richardson from the above list. 12.150.63.211 ( talk) 22:40, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
The crew numbers in the info box seem a bit off where does 209 come from? 219 passengers to 209 crew seems a bit far fetched but I'm no expert and can't find it in the sources 67.172.149.45 ( talk) 23:34, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
