There is a discussion to clarify our policy/guideline on the use of sports team logos. Please see Wikipedia_talk:Logos#Clarification_on_use_of_sports_team_logos if you wish to participate in the discussion. Johntex\ talk 16:25, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
We should be naming conferences such as this one per WP:COMMONNAME. In this case, the conference was commonly known as the "Rocky Mountain Conference" -- not the "Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference" or the "Rocky Mountain Faculty Athletic Conference". Yet, these latter "uncommon" names have worked their way into our coverage -- in this article's title, in conference season categories, in conference standings templates, etc.. I propose renaming all such articles based on common usage data supplied below (based on "hits" in the Newspapers.com database) which supports "Rocky Mountain Conference" as the clear and overwhelming common usage.
Year | Rocky Mountain Conference |
Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference |
Rocky Mountain Faculty Athletic Conference |

Based on this clear common usage, all of these articles, categories and templates should be renamed consistent with "Rocky Mountain Conference" (RMC). What do others think? Cbl62 ( talk) 02:51, 16 October 2018 (UTC)
