I'm given to understand that this variety of dove is (at least in the United States) considerably more common in captivity than in the wild. I'm not sufficiently sure of this fact to feel qualified to edit it into this article. I do know that this is one of the more popular varieties of dove to keep as a pet. This dove is very common and abundant on the South Oregon coast. There are many hundreds in Reedsport alone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Themom51 ( talk • contribs) 20:46, 9 June 2012 (UTC)
These might easily be confused with Eurasian Collared Dove which are becoming more abundant across North America. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.115.160.111 ( talk) 15:07, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
"catholic variety of open habitats" - what does catholic mean? In wiktionary I only find a religious significance. Alecsescu ( talk) 12:17, 29 January 2017 (UTC)
Many folks here in Talk are seeing them in USA, I see them in Fresno CA, yet the article suggests we are hallucinating. At best the article is unclear, objectively; it is in error. The article should deal with this.
