"Alessandro de'Medici was created Duke of Florence" The language here seems incorrect. "Crowned", maybe?
The article recommends going to the "Duchy of Florence" page but that page redirects us here. So this page redirects to itself. What happened? I'm not a historian, only a researcher so I can't help. Experts of Florence unite!
