I took a look at this, after discussion with Melissa. Here's an idea for an alternative hook:

I don't see how the background section fits the article. The article is about a crime specific to the UK. Without showing that raptor persecution is also a crime in those other societies, it seems inaccurate to use those societies' practices as background. Gvros8 ( talk) 20:55, 3 April 2022 (UTC)
It would be great to get some more international content and context. I am sure it is not only a crime in the UK, but the crimes are very context specific.
