I thought of making articles on all the great monks of RKM order without the prefix swami. This is to remove the ambiguity, as happened in case of Swami Ghanananda of Ghana and Swami Ghanananda of RKM. However there are 2 articles, one on Prabhavananda which was there before, and one more created by me earlier on Swami Nitya-swarup-ananda. Ramashray
Belur Math I have added one sentence only to bring the link to Belur Math.
I have made the data pertaining to Periodicals into Table Format for easy reading. The Journals published by Ramakrishna Mission from various centres are given year-wise. Wherever available, links for the Website of the respective centres are also provided. VMO 13:33, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
This article desperately needs an expanded History section. Currently it appears as if the only history of the Mission is a lawsuit, which of course is only a minor detail in the history. There is a book called something like "History of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission," although I don't have access to that book at the momemt. HeBhagawan 03:27, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
How about placing it near the bottom of the article in a new section called "controversies?" Many articles have such a section? HeBhagawan 14:16, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
For accuracy sake: the HQ is located in Belur of District Howrah across the Ganga river and not in Kolkata though nearer to it. — VMO 15:30, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
Perhaps some consensus could be formed about naming of monks. Many articles are given with the prefix "Swami" (including Swami Vivekananda); many others are given without. It looks like a lot of work to fix all the entries, either way. I would be slightly in favour of keeping the "Swami" prefix. After all, the monks are known that way to most people; their books carry their names that way too. Then again, giving only the "ananda" name has a certain alacrity. Britannica has an entry for "Vivekananda". I am not familiar with the Ghanananda controversy referred to by Ramashray. Sw.my 02:23, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
I have created a category called Category:Monks of the Ramakrishna Mission. Presumably everyone associated with the Mission should be classified either here or in the Category:Heads of the Ramakrishna Mission. Where does Swami Vivekananda himself belong - does he not count as one of the heads of the mission? -- RichardVeryard 09:08, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
Usually Swami Brahmananda is called the first president of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission. But Swami Vivekananda himself wrote that he had "resigned the presidentship". Which would make him actually the first president. The organization refers to its "head" as the President of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission. I don't know if that should be reflected in the category "heads" (as, say, "Presidents of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission"). Sw.my 12:27, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
Heads of the Ramakrishna Mission would belong also in Monks of the Ramakrishna Mission, since only Monks of the Mission would become head of it. Sw.my 09:10, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
How do editors feel about merging the pages Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission into one page Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission? The two organizations are inextricably linked, and form, more or less, one unit, as it were. This would be more concise, and make the relation between the "twin organizations" clearer. Sw.my 09:14, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
