The Raja Shelduck prefers the brackish waters of mangrove flats and paperbark tree swamps, but will live elsewhere during the wet season. Raja shelduck → Radjah shelduck – Far more often referred to by "radjah" than by "raja" (100 vs 17 Google Books results). This name is used in the Handbook of the Birds of the World and by BirdLife International, and is the historic name of the species.
