According to this Scottish goverment site ( http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/People/bank-holidays/FAQs) holidays not covered by the bank holidays act should be referred to as local holidays rather than public holidays. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.113.37.9 ( talk) 10:32, 27 September 2013 (UTC)
This article needs a section covering the history of the topic, eg. Boxing Day only became a holiday in the 1970s, see Christmas in Scotland. -- Mais oui! ( talk) 07:18, 18 August 2014 (UTC)
