The airport is not listed as João Paulo II anywhere.
The airport's own website calls itself simply Ponta Delgada, and has no mention of João Paulo.
Template:Regions of Portugal: statistical (NUTS3) subregions and intercommunal entities are confused; they are not the same in all regions, and should be sublisted separately in each region: intermunicipal entities are sometimes larger and split by subregions (e.g. the Metropolitan Area of Lisbon has two subregions), some intercommunal entities are containing only parts of subregions. All subregions should be listed explicitly and not assume they are only intermunicipal entities (which accessorily are not statistic subdivisions but real administrative entities, so they should be listed below, probably using a smaller font: we can safely eliminate the subgrouping by type of intermunicipal entity from this box).

Under the WPFC, will expand later (say in a couple of days), will change the class to Start and maybe ask for review. My current estimate for this is around 11-15 % completion. Please edit/review spellings, grammar as we go along, Thanks!
I propose to merge
A Famosa into
Portuguese Malacca. I think that the content in A Famosa can easily be explained in the context of Portuguese Malacca, and the latter article is of a reasonable size that the merging of the former will not cause any problems as far as article size is concerned.

Both of these articles have very distinct topics and scopes. One is a building and one is a historical polity. I don't see how a merger works effectively, and this article could easily reach a decent size without such a merger.
Template:Malaysian colonial architecture also shows we have articles on at least two other Portuguese-era buildings.

Completely Against these articles, while related, should not be merged at all. A Famosa is a notable landmark in a city and the other article, as CMD said, is on a historical political subdivision.

Oppose: No, I don't think it's a good idea either, for the reasons already stated. But there may be some merit in merging the content here in the 'Fortaleza de Malaca' section to the 'A Famosa' page, as it would fit better there.

Completely oppose these two articles are completely two different entity which falls under two different WikiProject (Geography and Architecture). One has a complete set of settlement infobox and the other as a complete set of structure-related infobox. Each parameter in these infobox are of the very interest of every single Wikipedia reader.

Closing, given a clear consensus not to merge.
