The trading post in 1581 is probably doubtful based on this single source which is highly doubted: De gids: nieuwe vaderlandsche letteroefeningen, Volume 12,Deel 2;Volume 24 : there is no real reference to back this up other than a proposal that was made by a " captain buts" . — Preceding unsigned comment added by 185.65.135.181 ( talk) 06:01, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
If true this would be the first Dutch post in the Caribbean. Goslinga does not mention it and 1581 is about 20 years before there were significant numbers of non-Spanish in the area. May be citation creep from a non-academic source. Benjamin Trovato ( talk) 22:32, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
