pronunciation

Any locals care to put in a pronunciation guide for the name of this city? I think I have a guess but I want to be sure. Thanks. 76.248.229.58 ( talk) 21:41, 6 November 2008 (UTC) Sandy reply

Pronuniation - IPA if possible - is still missing. Could anyone help? Is it plak-oh-my-n or plak-oh-mee-n?

Locals pronounce it "Plak-min". The accent is on the first syllable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.115.217.24 ( talk) 14:25, 14 November 2022 (UTC) reply

Notable people section

Per Wikipedia guidelines, in order to establish notability a person must have their own Wikipedia article. I removed Yancy Guerin, Nolan "Country" Ruiz and Joseph R. Gerace from this section because they do not meet this requirement. The information I removed is: Plaquemine was the birthplace of Motocross Champion Yancy Guerin, Plaquemine is the hometown of Nolan "Country" Ruiz, World War II veteran and German POW, and owner of Country's Cafe for 42 years, Plaquemine was the birthplace of the State of Louisiana's first Secretary of Labor, Joseph R. Gerace, who was appointed by Governor Edwin Edwards. Thank you -- BuzyBody ( talk) 19:48, 2 December 2013 (UTC) reply
