This article has been checked against the following criteria for B-class status:
I have just completed the B class checklist and feel that this article is a Start class article. I believe that it could be improved by the following:
referencing: for a successful B class review an article requires at least one in line citation per paragraph or block of information (more if multiple sources are used, or if making multiple contestable points);
images: some images could be added to illustrate the article and break up the text (if adding a number of images, you might consider making a
WP:Gallery);
I believe that the notes sections should go above references;
you might like to add an infobox, as per other Biography articles (these can be found by going to
Category:People infobox templates and selecting the most appropriate one;
expand the text to discuss the person's life and service in more detail.
Just a few ideas. If you want more detailed comments, please go to
WP:MHPR. Once you feel that the article is ready for re-assessment, please add it to the list at
WP:MHA. Hope this helps. —

Category:American slave owners
No mention of slave-owning. I feel that this category should be restricted to people whose slave-owning history was notable in itself.
