Persian War was not bred by Astor Studs (owned by Lord Astor). He was bred by Jakie Astor (later Sir John Astor) at his Hatley Park, Sandy, Stud in Bedfordshire. He was owned by Jakie Astor and went into training with Dick Hern as did most of Jakie's horses. Hern trained him to win the two flat races and he was sold at the Autumn HIT sales at Newmarket. I see no evidence for Tom Masson being involved. There was a book (biography) published in 1971 I think.( Victor Middlesex ( talk) 16:32, 11 October 2013 (UTC))
Came back to this and changed Astor Studs (never an owner: it was Lord Astor only until 1950 when he divided his bloodstock between his first son Bill (Later the 3rd Lord Astor) and his 4th son Jakie. They both raced under their own names until their deaths in 1965 and 2000 respectively. Though I see no evidence that Hern did not train PW to win his two flat races I won't change it (yet). Masson trained him once Jakie sold him at the mid to late October Horses in Training Sales. Hern had a terrible year in 1966 due to his stable being ravaged by an equine virus.
