I think the late interception of the division, February 1945, probably adds to the confusion, as written records about the unit would have been limited. I checked a few other-language Wikipedias and they all have it as a Panzergrenadier Division. The fact that it had a Panzer Regiment rather than only a Panzer Abteilung makes me think it was at least intended to be a Panzer Division.

You are probably right. In the end, it quite possibly does not matter what the article title is. "Panzer" being shorter, plus the mention in the book I happen to currently have on hand, would be my preference. However, I don't feel strongly either way.

What swings it a little towards the current name is also the fact that neither the
German Federal Archives nor
CGSC seem to have an entry for the unit under Panzer Divisions. I don't think it is worth taking through requested moves to build consensus at this stage and if you did I don't think I would vote either way because I'm really not certain enough.
