So, as he was a naturalised US citizen (1943) and thus able to serve for the US in World War Two as the article notes, in what way could he be regarded as "Australia's most prolific Oscar winner" - for academy awards won in the 1950s? It's a misleading and trivial comment for the lede. Catherine Martin is Australian and has won more academy awards than any other Australian. Simple as that.
