I believe that the Barracuda that ditched was from Indefatigable and that it ditched near its own carrier, not Formidable, based on the account in McCart's history of the Illustrious-class ships. The crew was recovered by the destroyer Verulam, according to McCart, p. 150. You can find a full citation to the book on the

"WWII Hellcat Wreck Discovered in Norway After 74 Years"
"It is believed that the Hellcat aircraft was flown by Lieutenant Commander Ronald Archibald Richardson from Gisborne, New Zealand.":
[1] Presumably part of this operation?
