Feel secure in skipping the following smaller-size talk content, which IMO deserves retention on this page, but (for nearly all editors, and even nearly all researchers of WP's history) deserves no further attention.

Two days ago, a previously non-contributing IP removed the lead 'graph without any edit summary. One might speculate that they regard the content --
-- as in some way inaccurate, and indeed when i examined the
first reference, which does concern
Omar Portee, his aliases, birthplace, and UBN affiliation seem unmentioned. In my mind, verification of the lead's content has not been adequately documented, even tho
the second ref cited includes "East Coast Bloods sets were founded on Rikers Island in 1993 by Omar Portee (O.G. Mack) and Leonard McKenzie (O.G. Deadeye).", verifying 2 of the lead's 4 facts that remain unverified by the point where the refs start.
While i remain unconvinced that footnotes in the lead are undesirable (let alone unneeded until the first post-lead refs occur)
Nevertheless, the remaining lead facts turn out to be verified by
pp. 73-74, Herbert C. Covey, Crips and Bloods: A Guide to an American Subculture, ABC-CLIO, 2015.
