@ SusunW: Here is a translation of the Hebrew article that I found:
Kiev has opened an exhibition of porcelain and ceramics by Olga Rapay
The Spiritual Treasures of Ukraine Museum in Kiev opened an exhibition by the Jewish Ukrainian sculptor of porcelain and ceramics Olga Rapay-Markish.
Today the works of Olga Rapay, known as one of the famous and respected Ukrainian ceramic sculptors, are highly desirable among collectors.
The exhibition presents 80 sculptures of Olga Rapay in porcelain and ceramic from private collections and museums. These include figurines of famous opera singers Larisa Rudenko and Bella Rudenko, images of the circus clown Oleg Popov, and statues of actor Charlie Chaplin and mime Marcel Marceau.
Most of the figurines are women – mothers, fashion models, female athletes, and girls wearing Ukrainian national costumes.
Olga Markish was born in 1929 in Kharkov to the family of Jewish poet Peretz Markish and philologist Zinaida Joffe. The sculptor lived in Moscow for several years. During Stalin's post-war anti-Semitic campaign, she was exiled to Siberia. In recent years she has lived in Israel, but most of her life has been devoted to Kiev.
In more than twenty years of work in the capital of Ukraine, Olga Rapay has produced a number of major projects. The most well known is a house for teams of national artists, located in the city center. [1]
