"Proposed classification of neurodevelopmental disorder" is clearer than "proposed neurodevelopmental disorder" because the latter makes it sound a bit like they're proposing a brand new disorder that no one had before. This disorder has probably been around forever, but researchers have only recently noticed it and started squabbling about what exactly are the symptoms and what to call it. "Proposed classification" makes it clear that "it" clearly exists but we don't have an "official" word for it. Asmith1992 ( talk) 13:14, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
"a statement that 80% of people diagnosed with NVLD are also diagnosed with Asperger's" that's surprising, I'd be interested in the source. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Asmith1992 ( talk • contribs) 18:39, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
@ StellaRover27, I agree with the sentiment. But, I think that a discussion about a disabling neurological condition that results in widespread suffering shouldn't get bogged down in issues of politically correct language ("difference" vs "impairment"). There is a "difference," but the difference is that there is an impairment. "Difference" is vague and obscures the meaning. All scientific and clinical literature refers to an impairment or deficit, not a simply a difference. This article could use some additional contributors though.
I've removed a ref "supporting" the claim that ICD-10 doesn't classify NVLD. [1]
