Classification

I think this article has recently risen about above stub classification. I suggest removing the stub in due course. Any objections? Ian Cairns 13:10, 26 May 2007 (UTC) reply

Following significant rework, I've submitted this article for a re-assessment. It is currently marked as Start-class, but surely greater than this. Icairns 2 ( talk) 16:21, 1 January 2021 (UTC) reply

Primary sources

Those GRO references look a bit obscure, and not up to the "readily verifiable" standard for sourcing; I don't think they're necessary, as the dates are all in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, which is a lot easier to find. Gordonofcartoon 02:20, 17 September 2007 (UTC) reply

On the contrary, GRO references were and are readily checkable for free. See, for example, www.freebmd.org.uk The ODNB articles are often redacted or only accessible by subscription, which readers will not necessarily have. Icairns 2 ( talk) 14:30, 1 January 2021 (UTC) reply
