Not sure if this article may be misleading. In my understanding, de Newars who call themselves Buddhists are actually Hindus who focus on the Buddha as their main practice, just like within Hinduism, there are Shivaites, or people who follow Krishna as example. The facts that Newars do not have monasteries and apparently stick to a caste system (which the Buddha strictly opposed in his teachings) makes them very doubtful 'Buddhists'. It appears to me that as a minimum the opinion of a renowned scholar would be needed to justify this article in this form.? rudy ( talk) 21:44, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
