This English treaty speaks of
Fort Detroit, as New York supposedly was trying to get control of this strategic area for the
Fur trade. However, the French's Fort Detroit at Waawiyaataanong area didn't begin construction until July 23, 1701, and this agreement was conducted in Albany on July 19... four days earlier, when the news of the new fort would not have reached Albany because there was no such fort, unless Lt. Gov. Nanfan was clairvoyant. Any ideas?
