I edited out that Nanci Griffith is sometimes refered to as a "pop waif" because unless you define what a "pop waif" is I think it is far too relative of a term to use. Is being a "pop waif" good, bad or does it even matter?Lester113
Agreed. It was a nonsensical "reviewer-speak" kind of phrase. -- PKtm 12:56, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
Whaaaaat? i know i shouldn't fill the talk page with personal reactions but... Who in their right mind ever even thought of calling Nanci (Nanci!!!) a "pop waif"?! To describe her as pop is deeply insulting, and waif isn't much better... ....aggreived Nanci fan, 05.06.06
I wanted to improve the references on the Nanci page but the edit option isn't available. Is it just me that isn't able to edit it? GOODGRR — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.218.65.203 ( talk) 09:54, 19 January 2012 (UTC)
This sentence - "In addition to her own songs, Griffith is well known for her versions of other people's material, usually by contemporary singer-songwriters." - seems kind of tacked on, especially in light of where it occurs. It seems that this info was given by implication, at the very least, in the info on the Other Voices album. Not a big deal, but the sentence seems unnecessary. Thoughts? The statement released by her management (and thus the source in the article) does not specifically state that she died today, in fact it implies that she died a week ago. I suggest that her death date just be shown as "August 2021" until we know more..... - - ChrisTheDude ( talk) 19:43, 13 August 2021 (UTC)
Nanci has been nominated for inclusion in the Recent Deaths section of the main Wikipedia page. ( RD under the August 13 section). Anyone think further Support comments should be added? Perhaps a reference to her Grammy win? I've never added anything to that Nominated/Candidates page, so don't know protocols. For that matter, it's not all that clear to me just how to go about adding a Support comment. Simply edit, and align formatting with other Support entries? And it seems the instructions for updating that page suggest adding an ITN Tag to the referenced page (which would be this Nanci page) to show that it's been nominated, but it doesn't look like that's been done. Ms. Griffith was well known for wearing a "LBJ for the USA" on her guitar strap during performances. The Nixon-Agnew button has obviously added on to her picture. This is disrespectful to her memory and subtly distorting of her biography. 2600:1700:F160:5010:7800:7716:DCD3:494D ( talk) 23:16, 31 December 2022 (UTC)

She cancelled a concert in 2012 because of hand surgery and what at that time was called "incipient arthritis" which made a concert in London hard for her. [2] [3] We obviously can't say it but her inability to play after that, and perhaps a recurrence of her writer's block, may have led her into a severe depression.
