could someone see if they can identify the names of each piece of music? I was able to get a few.-- Ted-m 12:48, 22 August 2006 (UTC) reply

It would be good if someone would create a table listing all the songs in the game. I could help identify some songs but am not sure exactly how to arrange the table. -- SpudBoy 03:54, 30 October 2006 (UTC) reply
I decided to go ahead and make the table anyway. Please modify it if it isn't arranged right. I also would like help identifying all the songs. -- SpudBoy 04:03, 4 November 2006 (UTC) reply

The CD image is misleading

The picture featured in the article is for a CD that does NOT contain the soundtrack listed in the article. That CD ("Official Civilization IV Soundtrack" only contains the music specifically composed for Civilization IV: the theme songs, Baba Yetu and Coronation. I believe that the picture should be either removed, or it should be noted in the article what that CD actually contains. Blind cyclist ( talk) 12:56, 13 November 2010 (UTC) reply

Access to game's music

I'd be very much interested to know what a lot of the music for the game actually is - there are some fantastic Classical music compositions, and not just a 'greatest hits' of some of the genre's best known works.

I've worked out what a few of the pieces are, maybe I'll put them up some time. Anyway, what I wanted to say was that the pieces of music can be listened to individually from the computer's hard disk. On my PC, the directory route is: Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Assets\Sounds. From here you can access the various different sounds that the game uses, including in the 'Soundtrack' folder the background music, divided into era.

Unfortunately there is not always sufficient information in the sound file title to always totally narrow down the exact piece. If anyone knows exactly which piece 'MozartAdagio' is, please let me know! Most of the Modern era pieces are by the American composer John Adams.

Also, if anyone knows which orchestra/conductor did Dvorak's Slavonic Dances, Op. 72: No. 4 in D-flat Major: Allegretto Grazioso, titled 'DvorakSlavonic12' in the game, then again please tell - it's a much richer version than any others I've heard!

Yes, if someone found out the original records for the tracks it would be good. 202.89.159.77 21:30, 13 January 2007 (UTC) reply

Lots More Information

I really enjoyed the soundtrack for this game and was disappointed that there was barely any information for what each song was. Wanting to find out what each song was, I went through and matched up all the music with samples on iTunes, figuring they'd be pretty reliable. People can make corrections if they find any but all the background music in the game is there now.

Include with Civ 4 article

Great work on the article. I found myself wondering how many of these songs I already had. Especially the choir music from Palestrina. I would like to suggest however that this article be added into the main article for Civ4. The link to the music article is buried in the article for Civ4. I missed it the first time I looked at the Civ4 page. Codus 20:41, 6 February 2007 (UTC) reply

Two corrections and some more information

I just spent hours independently identifying pieces for my computer game music collection before it occurred to me that someone might have tried this before (yes, this is what prompted me to register here). I found some mislabeled pieces, and I've fixed them. The especially tricky one was figuring out that "Des Prez Lament" is not actually by Des Prez, but by a composer who isn't even known to Wikipedia! The identification of the Lament and of "MozartAdagio" (which ought to be clearly not a symphonic piece, since it doesn't have any stringed instruments) can be verified by listening to them on CD selling Web sites. Thanks! Tricky error-correction is about as tough a job as they come. There's no telling how long those could've stood. -- Kizor 10:58, 2 April 2007 (UTC) reply
I'm pretty sure that the Brahms symphony pieces are from his second, not his third. Unfortunately I don't have the means to check now (no access to the game) but include this note in case it's useful to someone who gets stuck looking for them. -- User:Cratuki 19:45, 14 May 2007 (UTC) reply

Incomplete identification of most of the Medieval pieces

I don't have the game, so sorry that I can't help, but most of the Medieval and Renaissance pieces are incompletely named. "Kyrie" isn't a piece by Ockeghem--he wrote many masses, all of which begin with a Kyrie--you'll need to figure out which mass it's from in order to identify the piece. I'm trying not to get re-civ addicted, so I can't really help with this. -- Myke Cuthbert (talk) 06:10, 17 May 2007 (UTC) reply

Praetorius

Is it known which Praetorius is the composer of Ballet, Bransle, and Volte?

Apparently not. Thanks for pointing out the need to disambiguate, but I for one know nothing near enough to seek out the composer. -- Kizor 18:15, 28 July 2007 (UTC) reply

Chinese Unification Theme

Is this information correct? This music sounds nothing like the White Haired Women. -- User:KevinX94 22.19, 02 November 2007 (UTC)

Artists and performers

Any sources on which artists performed which pieces? For that matter, is there any sources on which of the Firaxis sound team wrote which pieces? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.206.41.170 ( talk) 10:19, 27 April 2009 (UTC) reply

Seconded. There are no ID3 tags with the license/performance information on the mp3s for the classical pieces, which is unusual. 64.148.24.44 ( talk) 23:41, 5 August 2010 (UTC) reply

chantlaudate.mp3

I found the same song performed on youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3b0gV5u1q4s. They seem to call it "Laudate pueri", but this is confusing because Mozart's Laudate Pueri sounds nothing like it. So I guess it is another song with the same name by another composer--which is annoying, because every search I do on Laudate Pueri gives results only on the Mozart version. /c: — Eric Herboso 12:05, 17 June 2010 (UTC) reply

Grammy

Should it be mentioned that "Baba Yetu" has been nominated for a Grammy award, the first ever for a video game track? 219.90.248.25 ( talk) 11:09, 4 December 2010 (UTC) reply
