Is this not the same as muscularis externa? If it is, then this article should be eliminated and just redirect to muscularis externa, with an explanation that the terms are synonymous. If they are not the same, then the difference should be explained.

I also agree; this unnecessary division inhibited my understanding of the layering of the GI tract. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to go about redirecting the page. Can anyone else do this? Eps0n ( talk) 11:13, 21 June 2009 (UTC) reply
