Merger proposal
A merger into
Fruit preserves is a bad idea. Fruit preserves is an overview page. It suffers already from the different scopes. It lists all fruit preserves on the one hand, and goes into details of jam/jelly on the other hand. Murabba is the same as
Varenye, and all of these are types of Conserve or whole fruit preserve. It would be more reasonable to merge
Murabba,
Varenye, possibly
Slatko, and parts of
Fruit preserves#Conserve into a separate "Conserve" or "Whole fruit jam" article. --

Oppose merge I don't think it's exactly the same as
compote or even
fruit preserves. It has a regional significance and different flavor profile (based on saveur articles and other
WP:RS). I am going to remove the unsourced content (we can't merge that anyway) and leave a stub for others to improve (or merge if that is the outcome here).

In Caucasus murabba denotes whole fruit jam. Here is an
example from Georgia. But Indian recipes may differ indeed. Here are some illustrations comparing Caucasian murabba with other whole fruit jam varieties: --

Wow, I had no idea. Ok, well, according to the Culinary Arts Institute Encyclopedic Cookbook fruit preserves are always made with whole fruit, and jam is different. It's a good source but not the only one. I think we can just redirect to the current
Fruit preserves#Conserve.
Slatko has only one citation to serbiancafe.com.
Murabba is similar, very little reliably sourced content to merge.
Varenye has more. Would it overburden the preserves article?

I think it will overload
Fruit preserves. That page sufferes already from the clash of scopes. It gives an overview of all types of fruit preserves (e.g. confit, chutney, fruit butter etc.) on the one hand, and goes into details of jam production on the other hand. You also correctly pointed before that murabba has its regional features, at least in India. It would be good to extend this article first and then see if it can be merged. As for slatko: I added a couple of refs. Slatko also seems to overlap with Greek
Spoon sweets. So we got quite many pages on local varieties of whole fruit jam, and I don't know if merging can help here. Instead, it might be better to extract the details of jam and jelly from
Fruit preserves into a separate article
Jam. --
