Mohanlal plays the role of Unnachan a panchayat secretary who has become bored with his monotonus life after college and his subsequent marriage to Annyamma played by Meena. His routine includes rides in the bus to office and back home where a female colleague flirts with him and meeting his apartment buddies for a drink in the terrace at nights. His unaffectionate behavior towards his family hurts Meena and the children and they often quarrel. Venukuttan played by Anoop menon is Unnachan's friend and he regularly flirts with several women without the knowledge of his wife. We are shown a glimpse of Unnachan's college life where he was a firbrand political activist and a great romantic. Asha Sarath's cameo as Unnachan's college love shows the matured bonding between them.
Unnachan decides to redeem his love life and flirfts with Julie (Neha Saxena) an NRI seeking permission to set up a beauty parlour in the panchayat. Unnachan's tryst with Julie makes him nervous and when his husband shows up Unnachan comes to know that Julie indeed is a flirt herself. This makes him feel bad and he realizes his long lost love for his wife Annnyamma. Romance blossoms between them again and both fall in love, scenes depicting this have been a visual treat. The rest of the story is about the family life he missed so far and the issues which might arise because of his daughters love with a rich boy.
Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol is a reminder to all husbands on the small happiness hidden inside our families and how we can unearth them to stay happy and healthy all our lives. 115.160.252.214 ( talk) 04:48, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
When there are multiple composers (say 5 or more) like in some recent films, description in brackets in the infobox looks messy. Parameter listing looks much more organized. PlutoniumBackToTheFuture ( talk) 13:22, 3 February 2017 (UTC)
