As you're probably aware, in their infinite wisdom the Roman naming system lends itself to many famous Romans having the same name throughout generations. This can be quite confusing!
I was looking for Marcus Claudius Marcellus, consul of the Roman Republic in 51 BC. In my quest I ran into Marcus Claudius Marcellus, nephew of Octavian; and Marcus Claudius Marcellus, commander during the second Punic War (this current page).
A disambiguity page needs to be set up but I don't have the time, and more importantly, the expertise is setting one up. I'm taking baby steps in my editting evolution. Could someone from the WikiProject Disambiguation group please look at this? -- ScottieB 00:53, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
The sculpture in the picture is actually of Augustus's nephew Marcellus, and not of the republican general. See this article for info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcellus_as_Hermes_Logios
Octavian 1977 ( talk) 17:16, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
This section would read a bit better if the second paragraph came first. 2A01:CB0C:CD:D800:1D53:C2C1:473:FAA9 ( talk) 13:10, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
