We're calling the article 'Maometto II', but starting out the lede with 'Maometto secondo'. I think we need to make these consistent.
An Italian would look at 'Maometto II' and say "Maometto secondo", but an English speaker would say "Maometto the Second". This would be wrong; as wrong as saying, for example "Николай the Second", as distinct from "Николай Второй" (for Tsar Nicholas II).
If we're using the fully spelled out Italian title, it needs to be "Maometto secondo". -- Jack of Oz ... speak! ... 07:27, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
« By mid-1821, the political situation was sufficiently under control to allow theatrical activity to continue and, while the production of Maometto II missed many deadlines, its first performance took place at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples on 3 December 1820. » Jean Marcotte ( talk) 20:17, 5 February 2015 (UTC)
