Several times over the past year, edits have been made to Magrath's religious affiliation breakdown within the
Demographics section. This breakdown is sourced to the 2001 federal census.
The
source indicates that 84% of the town's population indicated affiliation to a Protestant religion. The source does not indicate 84% affiliation to the Latter-day Saints. Therefore, the repeated edits to change Protestant to either Latter-day Saints/LDS or Mormon have been incorrect and have been continually reverted.
According to Statistics Canada, the religious affiliation grouping of Protestant
includes Latter-day Saints (Mormons) as well as 43 other denominations. This confirms that it is incorrect to assume that all Protestants in Magrath are solely LDS, and not from any of the other 43 demoniations.
It is understood that LDS is likely the most common Protestant religious denomination in Magrath. This likelihood is evident through the town's history and the referenced statement in the article about LDS churches. As such, I recognize that these edits have likely been made in
good faith. This is simply an attempt to "clear the air" that these good faith edits are accidentally over-estimating the size of Magrath's LDS population.

– I believe that the primary topic of "Magrath" is the surname. Wikipedia contains multiple articles on people with the name, as well as a town, road, and Baronetcy, all named after someone with the surname. Google produces many results unrelated to the town in Alberta, [1] [2] [3]. 117Avenue ( talk) 06:50, 12 February 2013 (UTC)
