The entry for "Lost Provinces" in NCPedia describes counties in the eastern part of the state, but almost all of the cited references point to the three western counties emphasized in this article. I suspect that the eastern counties borrowed the appellation in a push for economic development, but the great mass of references point to the western counties as the traditional Lost Provinces.
