This article confuses me. Is the Duchy of Courland the same as Livonia? Could that be cleared up? And what does the first line (it isn't a sentence) have to do with the article? -- Zoe 06:59, 9 February 2003 (UTC)
Livonia as a historic region is much broader than the teritory where Livonians lived. Therefore, I put "region" back instead of "land of Livonians". Andris 00:57, Apr 24, 2004 (UTC)
It seems to me you are confusing Livonians wit Livs ;)
Could the maps be repositioned at the start of the article? The article describes the areas by colour, but with 2 similar, coloured maps it's not clear which one is being talked about. Jim901 19:42, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
It seems that following map's explanatory notes need minor correction as to "Ruthenian Duchies" color correlation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Teutonic_state_1250.png Sheetikoff 19:04, 7 May 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sheetikoff ( talk • contribs)
I was under the impression that the latvian word for livonia was Vidzeme. On this page it is listed as Livonija. -- Sekela3rd 21:24, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
In Finnish "Liivinmaa" also known as "Lohikäärmeenmaa" (The Land of Dragon) named after the Livonian long boats. Kuurinmaa (Courland) was also known as "Kurjenmaa" (The Land of Crane).

Why exactly you User:Lokyz returned to the previous version after I started cleaning up the article did not become clear to me. In case you think the image about Baltic tribes is relevant to the article that in the beginning speaks about the Finnic people Livonians, feel free to add the map to the relevant chapter. The image Europe in the 9th century shows the borders of the Baltic and Finnic tribes at the time and therefore illustrates the story here much clearer it seems to me. -- Termer ( talk) 22:38, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
There is no need to put the name of Livonia in Persian or Urdu. It is not historically important. Why then not Chinese, Japanese, Hindi, etc.? It makes no sense. Dukurs ( talk) 07:59, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
