Here is a
small interview Nintendo Life had with director Masao Taya. I added notes on the important details.
The "Idea" battle system uses something like
DCCG as a base.
In terms of how long the game will take to complete, for people who catch on to the battle system quickly, about 10-12 hours. If it takes a little longer to understand the system, about 15-20 hours.
The collaboration with
Toby Fox started thanks to Ichinose (a composer and game creator at Game Freak) who is with Toby on
Twitter. Taya is a big fan of Undertale and when he asked Ichinose to ask Toby to create the music for Little Town Hero, he agreed. After that, the two of them sent the game's visuals and information to Toby, and they met with him when he was in Japan, taking him out to dinner with the other staff. The next morning, Toby had already sent Taya the key phrases of what would become the game's main theme.
