The title of this article ( Former presidents who ran for the presidency) is problematic unless it is expanded to include presidents of countries other than the U.S. 165.189.91.148 19:43, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
Should we add William Howard Taft to this list, since after his presidency he went on to serve as Chief Justice? I can understand its omission because he didn't *run* for office, but nonetheless he did *take* an office and it seems relevant. Collabi 22:14, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
Hoover tried to get the 1940 nomination at the Republican convention that year. Ford had an exploritory committee in 1979 and got his name on the New Hampshire primary ballot methinks, but I'm not sure. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.68.128.125 ( talk) 19:24, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
Andrew Johnson did not run for the senate while president, as the table claims. He left the presidency in March 1869 and returned home to Tennessee, running for a Senate seat shortly thereafter. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 38.104.104.46 ( talk) 20:47, 7 October 2016 (UTC)

List of United States presidents who ran for office after leaving the presidency → List of former United States presidents who ran for office – I believe this more succinct title still adequately describes the article.
