No other US state has its own standalone state-level list of its own film festivals existing separately from its section in the US-wide list, and no other subnational division anywhere else in the world has its own standalone divisional list — in fact, for most world countries, even a country-level list of film festivals doesn't currently exist, and instead the country just has a subsection in a continent-wide list. So as it stands, New Jersey is the only subnational division in the entire world which currently has its own separate list of film festivals independently of the country it's part of.
If there were actually any discernible effort being put into improving our collection of lists of film festivals into a much more complete tree than it is, I wouldn't have any issue with splitting the US list up by state — but if that effort isn't being expended, then I don't see a compelling reason why New Jersey would need special treatment that no other state/province/prefecture-level division anywhere else on earth is getting. Film_festivals_in_Pristina at least exists, as the nominator perfectly knows since they took it to Afd Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Film_festivals_in_Pristina a few hours after this proposal was made....:D)- My, oh my!
