Sorry, but are we not talking about ethnically German food here? Döner kebab's popularity in Germany is primarily because the large amount of Turkish immigration the country has seen. I am not really a author or creator so I don't wanna just change things.
Anyhow, Schnitzel is very popular in Germany yes, but there is no Schnitzel made of beef. The cheap kind usually is made with pork or some sort of poultry (chicken for example).
