This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
Hey, Wikipedia! I'm an employee at LendingClub here operating on the company's behalf. In lieu of making direct edits, which I know is forbidden, I will make suggestions on this Talk page and let editors who have no conflict of interest decide if they're thorough and well-sourced enough to add to the LC Wikipedia page.
My first edit request is pretty straightforward. I wanted to update a few items in the page's infobox, including:
References
I see that User:Ptrnext recently updated the financial figures, which I've had my eye on for a little while. Thanks for taking care of that! If User:Ptrnext or any other editor is interested in helping out with these edits, please go right ahead. Cheers! EFlynn at LendingClub ( talk) 16:55, 31 May 2022 (UTC)

Hey again! While inspecting the page, I noticed that the History section, while it contains many solid facts, has some awkward phrasing in it and doesn't contain much information about what LendingClub has done over the past few years, as it has rather dramatically altered how it operates. I researched and drafted a new History that brings the section up to date, while keeping nearly everything in the existing section intact. Since the draft is quite long, I uploaded it to my user page. Here I'll quickly run down the more substantial changes and additions I made:
I would like to invite editors—specifically User:Ptrnext and User:IAmChaos, both of whom reviewed my initial edit request—to take a close look at my draft and either post it to the LendingClub page or let me know what I could do to improve it. Thank you in advance to whoever takes the time to comb through what I've written. Cheers! EFlynn at LendingClub ( talk) 19:55, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
Formal request has been received to merge: LendingClub Bank into LendingClub; dated: September 2022. Proposer's Rationale: Just to be clear: I'm a LendingClub employee with a COI, which is why I'm making this request. Radius Bank used to be its own entity, which I think is why this article still exists, but after it was bought by LendingClub in 2021, it was completely absorbed by the company. There is no such thing as "LendingClub Bank," just banking services offered by LendingClub. Here are Bloomberg and SF Biz Times articles with further info. EFlynn at LendingClub. Discuss here. @ EFlynn at LendingClub and CNMall41: I now merged the content from LendingClub Bank into here. EFlynn, could you possibly post a working link to the Bloomberg article? Also, it seems to me that the banking services information may be misleading and outdated, since all references are from around 2017 and presumably the take-over by LendingClub had an impact on the business model and the way the bank is run. So newer information/sourcing would probably be very welcome. I may not actually work on this though, since I just came here patrolling Proposed article mergers and don't actually have any experience or special interest in finance or business articles. Hello! On the recommendation of User:CNMall41 above, I've decided to open up discussions about how to iron out the page's post-merger issues with an edit request. Here I'll briefly recap the situation, for anyone who's looking at this with fresh eyes:
I had previously suggested that the (now-defunct) LendingClub Bank page be merged with the LendingClub page. After some discussion among editors, User:Felix QW helpfully deleted the LC Bank page and migrated some of its content onto the LendingClub page. Which is a great start, but there are now some inaccuracies and redundancies on the LendingClub page. I detailed some of these in my post above.
I have drafted new History and Business model sections. The former has information about LendingClub's acquisition of Radius, the bank that would become "LC Bank". And the latter contains info about how LendingClub's operations and services have changed since the company acquired a bank charter.
I'm aware this might be a lot, for an editor who hasn't been keeping up with these developments. I'm happy to clarify further. Just ask away. I'm a LendingClub employee with a COI, so my role in this process is to make suggestions and provide context. I know that independent editors should ultimately decide how to resolve these post-merger issues. Thanks! EFlynn at LendingClub ( talk) 18:00, 14 November 2022 (UTC)
