Isn't the word "progressive" in the opening line rather POV?
GLGerman 18:31, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
I am from Germany and the situation here is since the last 15 years grewing better and well tolerated like in the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain or Scandinavia. We have since five years in the whole country a civil union for gay couples near to marriage and in our largest cities Berlin and Hamburg open gay mayors rule. GLGerman 11:38, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
Somehow it seems strange that this page doesn't connect with any article in the French Wikipédia. And yet I'm not sure with which article it should connect. For example, the article "Mouvement de libération gaie" talks about gay lib movements from various countries. I'm not sure if there's something specific to France in the French Wikipédia. Anyone have any ideas? scotteaux 23:40, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
Do the laws regarding LBGT-rights in continental France (and French Guiana) also apply to all of its overseas collectivities (e.g. French Polynesia)? LightPhoenix ( talk) 17:53, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
As i read stepchild adoption for PACS is allowed. France high court ruled two ore three years ago. 80.226.52.244 ( talk) 22:05, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Don't have time to do this myself, but I have tagged it for multiple reasons. Notable is the "Public opinion" section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by CavinSays ( talk • contribs) 20:02, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
The graph at the end of the article states that French lesbians couples have equal access to IVF, which, as of this day, isn't the case.
The issue has been widely debated in France a little while ago, and was a part of Francois Hollande campaign's program. However, the massive protests that were held across the country following the voting of marriage / adoption equality bill prompted him to back off on this particular point. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.202.184.39 ( talk) 20:44, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
The article LGBT rights in Mayotte redirects to this article. However, we do not discuss Mayotte here at all. The Mayotte article, discussing the legal system before 2001, states, "...the peculiar local administration of Mayotte, largely ruled by customary Muslim law, would be difficult to integrate into the legal structures of France, not to mention the costs of bringing the standards of living to levels close to those of Metropolitan France. For these reasons, the laws passed by the national parliament had to state specifically that they applied to Mayotte for them to be applicable on Mayotte." In 2011, Mayotte became an overseas department of France. "Becoming an overseas department will mean it will adopt the same legal and social system as used in the rest of France. This will require abandoning some customary laws, adopting the standard French civil code, and reforming the judiciary, educational, social and fiscal systems, and will take place over a period of about 20 years." So, I don't think we can assume that LGBT rights in Mayotte in 2014 are the same as in the rest of France. Perhaps we need a separate "LGBT rights in Mayotte" article, but until that gets written, can someone who knows about this add a section here? In the conversation therapy section, the first portion gives a definition in too much depth considering the main article of conversation therapy exists. I think this initial description, up until "psychological rape" should be removed from the article as it is not specifically related to conversion therapy in France, but conversation therapy in general. I believe such should be removed from this article and moved to the main article.
If people think this is a valid idea, I shall do so, but am willing to listen to other opinions before making such a major edit. OmarRihani7777777 ( talk) 00:10, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
