In 1982, a registered unrecognised party floated by the decision of the council of SNDP Yogam on 1977 March 13, had contested for assembly elections in Kerala. They won Kottayam and Karunagappally seats. MLA from Kottayam became a minister in the Karunakaran ministry. This is part of our legislative history. N Sreenivasan was a udf candidate and not an independent.
