worth adding?

Is it worth adding a popular culture reference? In Edgar Rice Burrough's "Pirate blood" dealing with issues of heredity as destiny the character of Daisy Jukes is a seemingly good girl from a bad family who eventually gives in to heredity and become a drunken high price call girl and ( if I recall correctly) a suicide. Given that heredity as destiny is a theme, there is no reasonable chance that her name was coincidence. — Preceding
