The introductory warning does not apply to the name in the article's title. "Gnarr" in not a patronymic but a corruption of the middle name "Gunnar". "Kristinsson" is the patronymic, however. Asgrrr ( talk) 21:05, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
The entry now refers to his last name as Kristinsson, which is correct since the national registry doesn't allow for true last names. Last names or family names in Iceland are, technically, middle names. helgihg ( talk) 13:55, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
So how can we change the listing, warning, and ordering? I can't see how to edit the warning. Difbobatl ( talk) 13:44, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
According to the Allusionist episode 87, https://www.theallusionist.org/allusionist/icelandic-names , this information is incorrect. Gnarr has been accepted by Icelandic courts as a bona fide family name, heritable to Gnarr's descendants. Gnarr is now a part of the minority of Icelanders who do have a family name. Gnarr explains the process himself in the last 10 minutes of the linked podcast. I would edit this myself, but how notes and references are handled is beyond me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:547:500:2650:2CA4:FFAA:69DB:F7BD ( talk) 19:24, 23 October 2018 (UTC)
Would someone kindly add this to the "External Links" section in the main article, when I do it seems to be removed.
There is an RfC on the question of using "Religion: None" vs. "Religion: None (atheist)" in the infobox on this and other similar pages.
The RfC is at Template talk:Infobox person#RfC: Religion infobox entries for individuals that have no religion.
Please help us determine consensus on this issue. -- Guy Macon ( talk) 06:27, 24 April 2015 (UTC)
