Freddy Mercury was an Indian Parsi from Zanzibar who lived in the UK. Nothing about that is Iranian. He was schooled and raised in Mumbai (Bombay) in India, where he listened to Asha Bhosle and started his first band. The Parsi language is not spoken in Iran. He has nothing to do with Iran except that his ancestors migrated from that region to India 1000 years ago.!-- Bulsarabuddy 11:54, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
Nevertheless, he's not of mainstream Iranian ethnicty/ancestry. His connection is a bit distant and he comes from a different subculture that diverged from Iran a millennia ago (Subcontinental Parsi culture). We can mention Queen's influence on Iranian rock but not list him as an Iranian-rooted musician. Parsis may be ethnically "Persian" but, after all, do we include any Tajik musicians as part of Iranian rock?
He wasn't Iranian. He was also descended from an amoeba. Don't think he should be on the amoeba music page. And the statement is in total conflict with the Freddy Mercury article which states he was secretive about his Indian origins. One BBC article does not prove anything, they are often very slack especially on trivia articles. Go write some music if you want to pad out the article. —Preceding

The article is by no means complete, there are many more rock artists from Iran which shall be gradually added to the article, even Fereydoon Forooghi one of the pioneers of rock in Iran was not included! Mohammadi7575 —Preceding undated comment added 11:16, 4 October 2018 (UTC) Calling Freddy Mercury a "demigod of rock music" (though true) may not be the best choice of words for an article about music from a country that mandates the belief in one - and only one - true god. Yes, Queen is awesome. Can anyone think of a word that ranks as high as "demigod" that won't be regarded as blasphemy in some circles?
i Agree that this article is bad!!!!!!! BBC us very laxs with its articles so this doesn't prove any thing. Queen is the best band ever so rock on. I think AC/DC is another great band!!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.152.50.232 ( talk) 20:40, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
Terms like "incredibly talented" and "once in a blue moon" don't belong in an encyclopedia. Otherwise, decent article, and great sourcing. - Justin (koavf), talk 03:38, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

The list of bands in this article is inconsistent with Wikipedia standards and policies. Lists of this nature should not be comprised of external links, rather they should be internal links. If bands are not notable enough (re: WP:MUSIC) then it may be they are not suitable for inclusion. More information can be found at WP:NOT, WP:EL, WP:MUSIC and WP:V. Deizio 14:51, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
The rap section doesn't belong in an article about rock and alternative. The section is also not neutral at all and claims that Eminem is hugely popular amongst Iranian youth and that they want "to practice what he preaches". Yeah, right. DragonRouge 15:09, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
Zereshk added {{ WPRock}} to the top of this page, which is acceptable. It does belong in the scope of the Rock music WikiProject. The issue was grading it as a Good Article class. This has to become a good article before that can be done. You can nominate this article for GA status, but I would suggest to request a peer review before that is done. If there are any further questions, feel free to ask them on the Rock music Wikiproject talk page. -- Reaper X 00:32, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Image:Fm2.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot 09:34, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Merge Someone proposed that Heavy metal music in Iran be moved into this artcile sometime ago but no discussion was made about it. I agree as the other article is very short and not really informative. JohnnyMrNinja 17:36, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
please dont add non-notabale artists to the article only the bands with wiki page are allowed, and also dont use it as an advertisement for your band! read WP:Music for more info. Its a good artice so dont put it in danger of deletion -- Spada2 ( talk) 08:10, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

Rock music in Iran → Iranian rock – Using the common way of titling similar articles (e.g. Israeli rock, French rock, etc.). I couldn't do this myself since there's already a redirect page under the same title. – Rye-96 ( talk) 22:38, 22 September 2016 (UTC)
