I happen to catch the first few mins of this movie, w/ the sound off. Watching that scene of mayhem w/ garland n johnson, seemed right out of a silent film...and then a few moments later, noticed Mr Keaton in the film..ahh!! And herein your notes, confirm my thoughts..'Keaton also devised the sequence in which Van Johnson inadvertently wrecks Judy Garland's hat, and coached Johnson intensively in how to perform the scene."
