This game is not a direct prequel to Breath of the Wild, since it does not end with the Calamity, but instead with a happy ending where nobody dies. It might or might not be canon, since the Zelda series does like using alternate timelines as an explanation for tying together different games. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:646:C601:A810:2535:3FFE:774C:3583 ( talk) 00:19, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
Good point, but in the game itself, during a loading screen, it says this: "When Terrako, (referring to the little guardian,) traveled to the past, a fragment of calamity ganon's malice followed it. This act caused a new world to be born." so while i understand what you're saying, i don't think it to be true. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.15.96.125 ( talk) 19:34, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
