Human dignity is not a controversial idea and by sheer numbers the very idea of speciesism is. perhaps contested is a better word? human dignity is contested by those who claim it is a form of speciesism? 64.89.153.51 11:56, 15 December 2006 (UTC)rachel
Rachel, Dignity is controversial, in that there are quite a number of people/writers/politicians/philosophers/journalists/etc. who believe that the term is not only contestable in terms of its definition, but controversial in terms of its application. see e.g. the presidents bioethics commission. —Preceding

I request polite comment on whether the section on the German Constitution should be moved to the article: Dignity. In my opinion, the section--because it illustrates the difficulty of applying laws which have no rational foundation would--with a few changes--fit well with the article:Dignity. pursuant to this AfD discussion, I'm merging this article into Dignity. most of the material has been transferred, though it needs more integration at the moment. -- Ludwigs2 02:15, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
