Crash of 1977

Video game crash of 1977 redirects to Home video game console, but there's nothing on it about the video game crash of 1977.

I have replaced the material and now it redirects to Home video game console#Home console crash in 1977. -- Cartakes ( talk) 15:15, 4 February 2015 (UTC) reply

Article content

As per discussion at WT:VG, there is consensus that video game consoles do not just include home consoles like PS3, but also handheld game consoles like PSP etc, I have made the Video game console and Home video game console articles separate. The Video game console article has been updated to include non-home consoles, and most of the content in this article come from the original Video game console article with noticeable modifications to match the scope of home consoles. The earlier changes in that article is available from this link. -- Cartakes ( talk) 16:55, 6 November 2014 (UTC) reply

Categories

If a Wikipedia page has its own category, it is generally expected to be in this category too. For example, Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita have their own categories Category:Nintendo 3DS and Category:PlayStation Vita, so they have these categories in their pages. -- Cartakes ( talk) 15:17, 11 November 2014 (UTC) reply

You can also check Handheld game console, which belongs to Category:Handheld game consoles and not Category:Video game consoles (but Category:Handheld game consoles in turn belongs to Category:Video game consoles). So it is already inconsistent by now as you see. -- Cartakes ( talk) 15:25, 11 November 2014 (UTC) reply

Disambiguation page

The disambiguation page Crash has two entries about video games:

The 1977 entry redirects to the top of this article, which is incorrect. The 1983 entry redirects to North American video game crash of 1983, which is correct.-- DThomsen8 ( talk) 00:27, 7 April 2015 (UTC) reply

Just redirect the first to Video game console#Home console crash in 1977 will be fine. -- Cartakes ( talk) 01:49, 8 April 2015 (UTC) reply

Input on major reorganization of console articles

I'm proposing a reorganization of several articles that will include or may impact this one that I've outlined at Talk:Video game console#Massive reorganization of several articles proposed and would like input there. -- Masem ( t) 15:03, 27 July 2020 (UTC) reply

  • As a followup on this, unless anyone has any issue, I am planning on moving the contents of List of home video game consoles to here in the next day or so. Most of the content of this article is now at History of video game consoles and/or in the specific generation articles, give or take. (Given how poorly sourced this is, I don't think much here is otherwise missing). I'd need to add a preamble to this to introduce home video games consoles a bit more in general, but this would otherwise keep the list and refer to the history, generation articles, and individual console articles for details. (The same would be done for handhelds, but let me get through with this.) -- Masem ( t) 17:44, 2 September 2020 (UTC) reply
  • Okay, as I noted, I've completed the move and basic preamble stuff. The original content that was at this article is still at [1] (the next edit is a redirect to overwrite it), and outside of a few words here or there, I didn't touch the contents of this list but added preamble stuff. -- Masem ( t) 21:12, 8 September 2020 (UTC) reply
