This article should be updated with some relevant information. She is not the co-host of the 4th hour of the Today Show on NBC with Kathy Lee Gifford. Also it was revealed on today's episode (April 9th, 2008) that she was recently divorced on Feb 14th, 2008. Not sure how to reference it or if it is relevant. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.91.48.14 ( talk) 17:56, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
Hoda spoke today at Virginia Tech's commencement, and mentioned that she is a breast cancer survivor. I haven't looked for sources to cite here for this information, but I think it's worth mentioning. horse dreamer 06:36, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
I always thought that she was haf white and half African. I am still correct on that, but why call her an arab woman? Just because Egypt considers itself an arab country does not mean that she is an arab as opposed to an African. You don't call other African states that are in the arab league arabs like Somali, Sudanese etc. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.28.88.6 ( talk) 15:27, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

I have just updated the page with a source that talks about her being born in Norman before moving to West Virginia for her childhood, as well as combined the Breast Cancer section with the Biography, as an additional section seemed unneeded and superflous for the amount of information that was there. Jutm543 ( talk) 15:43, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
What about the book she wrote called Hoda: How I Survived War Zones, Bad Hair, Cancer and Kathie Lee. I feel that needs to be included. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.66.60.190 ( talk) 03:38, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
She is American. She was born in America, she has been categorized as American people of Egyptian descent, American television reporters and correspondents, American television news anchors. She has not been categorized as Egyptian people of American descent, Egyptian television reporters and correspondents, Egyptian television news anchors. If you can show that she is an Egyptian, and not an American than do it. But all sources state that she is born in America, lives in America, not one source indicates that she anything other than American Citizenship, and therefor she is American. Racingstripes ( talk) 02:05, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
She is born in the US and yes, her citizenship is American. But you seem to confuse "citizenship" and 'ethnicity". Look up the difference between those two terms. For the fact that her background is Egyptian, making her ethnicity Egyptian as well. Plus there is no such thing as american ethnicity, unless she is a native american.. So stop reverting to false information. This is my second warning to you. Next time you will be reported and blocked for vamdalism.
Norum 07:03, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
Just like millions of other americans, including me, it is her ethnicity. Whether you like it or not american, is an ethinicity. Apparently she has lived in her native country her entire life, she was only educated in her native country, and she only speaks her native language of english. There is a difference between being of the Indigenous peoples of the Americas and Ethnically American. Racingstripes ( talk) 11:48, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
Let me put it in words that even you will understand. I.e. Your grandparents came from Italy to the USA 50 years ago. You and your parents were born and grew up in the US. This indeed, makes you an american citizen. But ethnically you are still Italian because of your heritage. PS. Are you native? No? Then your ethinicity is not american. This is your second warning. If you continue vandalising the page, you will be reported. Norum 15:15, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
In response tot he comment by an anonimous poster....dude, you really have no idea what you are talking about. You have a single problem by not being able to tellt he difference between "ethnicity" and "nationality". Norum 20:37, 13 May 2011 (UTC) http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100512043802AAgGOvk Racingstripes - you have yet again reverted the information, despite being warned twice before. This is your third and final warning. Norum 15:56, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

@ Racingstripes - So what about the Kennedys? Are you denying that their ethnicity is Irish? Or
Martin van Buren. Are you denying that his ethnicity was Dutch? And
Zlatan Ibrahimović? Are you denying that his ethnicity is
Bosnian and
Croatian?
I could use so many examples to prove you wrong.
Norum 15:41, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
Kennedy and Van Buren are ethnically American. And JFK was not ethnically Irish, his family ate Corned Beef and Cabbage(another example of American Cuisine) on St. Patrick's Day, and his favorite food was Fettucini(Italian). Go to Ireland and see how many people ethnically Irish people do that. Ever been to an Irish bar in America that has a sign saying "we don't care if grandfather came from Ireland - you're not Irish". I guess you think that potatoes are not ethnically Irish and tomatoes are not ethnically Italian because they are native to the western hemisphere? Racingstripes ( talk) 01:50, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
And this is where you are wrong, because ethnically the Kennedy's are Irish, despite the fact that they have been in the uS for a 100 yrs. You simply mix two things - nationality and ethnicity. Norum 04:51, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
The Kennedy's may have descended from Irish immigrants, but they are ethnically American. With your logic the reisdents of Italy would be viewing Michael Sorrentino as a Paisan but they're not cause he's ethnically American pretending to be ethnically Italian. Racingstripes ( talk) 12:20, 14 May 2011 (UTC)

It is you that doesn't understand, go to Italy and see if Italians agree with you. My high school Italian teahcer(he is ethnically Italian) doesn't agree with you and I've been to Italy, and the people of Italy don't agree with you. Racingstripes ( talk) 15:01, 14 May 2011 (UTC)

Smarts has nothing to do with it, but on a planet of over 6 billion, I have to believe I am smarter than at least 60 million of them. That's only 1%, you got give me at least that. Anyway I just happen to agree with many of the people of the are ethnically from Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, English etc, that don't feel that Americans are not ethnically the same as they are. I'm assuming you don't really interact with many americans since your really not understanding what it is I am talking about. Racingstripes ( talk) 06:28, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
First of all, I was refering to the population of Italy, if you havent noticed. Second of all, if you actually read the link I provided, you would notice that nationality refers to the nation where you were born and grew up in and ethnicity refers to the gene pool you decend from. Therefore, even if you are born in the US you are an American by a nationality, but if your ancestry is from Italy (for example) then your ethnicity is Italian. Case closed. In 2006, 70.173.213.110 was the first to add that weird pronunciation: (pronounced KOT-bee). Ever since, it was edited many times, till it became /ˈhoʊdə ˈkɒtbiː/, which I suspect. I need something citing that pronunciation, maybe a video clip. It is most likely pronounced as /kɒtəb/. Anyway, I tagged the -bee pronunciation and added the Egyptian Arabic pronunciation, as well as removed the Arabic transliteration which was very misleading about how it is pronounced by native Egyptians. -- Mahmudmasri ( talk) 05:00, 20 May 2013 (UTC)

I noticed User:Coupdeforce redirected the page Hoda to this article on June 6, 2013, stating in the edit summary, "There was no page here, so I made a redirect to Hoda Kotb who seems to be the only notable Hoda." Upon doing a simple Wikipedia search, however, several other Hodas turned up, such as Hoda Abdel-Hamid, Hoda Ablan, Hoda Barakat, Hoda Lattaf, and Hoda Saber. While it is true that most people searching for Hoda on the English Wikipedia would be searching for Hoda Kotb, we must at least create a disambiguation page for all the other Hodas.
