The result of the debate was move. Haukur 13:19, 23 June 2006 (UTC) Admiral Harriman Nelson → Harriman Nelson … Rationale: Article by name and not by title. Can't do a regular move right now
I think there needs to be a separation between the movie version of Nelson and the TV version. By putting the two of them together it leads to confusion.
Image:Basehart.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot 23:11, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
When I edit this article, even if I change only one word, the images of 2 of Nelson's decorations disappear. Therefore, I have not saved any of my edits. Wjwtk ( talk) 22:40, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
I removed the line about Admiral Elmo Zumwalt because he was only a Captain in 1964, and he was not a public figure until he was appointed Chief of Naval Operations in 1970. See Admiral Zumwalt's book, On Watch: A Memoir (1976, Quadrangle-The New York Times Book Co.). Admiral Hyman Rickover, "Father of the Nuclear Navy," is a more likely model for the Nelson of both the film and the series. His genius and temper were already legendary in 1960. But he was not a polymath like the Nelson of the series. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ftfrk61 ( talk • contribs) 14:06, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
I don't think it's ever clearly explained in the series, but it is often implied that the ship itself and the crew are not in the US Navy, which is unbelievable since they seem to maintain a military organization and that the ship carries weapons, including nuclear missiles. The other very odd thing occurs in the episode "The Return of the Phantom" (Sn. 2, Ep. 26) when they have a burial at sea. Everyone salutes the traditional American way (with the palm facing down), but Nelson inexplicably salutes the British way, with the palm facing outward. I've never found out if this was a simple goof on Basehart's part, or if it was meant to imply something about his background. __ 209.179.0.121 ( talk) 00:01, 7 December 2015 (UTC)
