This man was French. The Knights Hospitaller were also known as the Knights of Malta, but this is a reference to the order’s origin, and does not make him Maltese (?)

I removed the {{Malta-bio-stub}} someone applied to this article, for the reason above. Can be restored if someone knows for a fact that it isn’t wrong to call him Maltese
